What Makes This Coffee Special?
The Yanesha microlot was grown in the Tsachopen-Miraflores region of Pasco, Peru, at an impressive 5,971 feet above sea level. This elevation, combined with careful shade-growing techniques, creates ideal conditions for developing the coffee’s distinctive flavor profile. Using the honey process, the farmers have enhanced the beans’ natural sweetness, resulting in a truly exceptional cup.
Tasting Notes:
- Caramel: A rich base that gives the coffee its indulgent sweetness.
- Honey: Subtle and smooth, enhancing the overall balance.
- Orange: Bright and zesty citrus notes.
- Ripe Banana: A gentle fruitiness that rounds out the profile.
- Walnut: Nutty undertones for added complexity.
- Maple: A touch of warmth in the finish.
These flavors are layered with honeyed acidity and a smooth body, making this coffee an absolute treat for both casual drinkers and connoisseurs.
How We Roast It
We roast this coffee to highlight its perfect balance of fruitiness and sweetness. Preferred roast levels range from Medium to Full City+, preserving its vibrant character while allowing the deeper, nutty notes to shine.
How to Enjoy It
This coffee is versatile and shines with various brewing methods, including pour-over, French press, and AeroPress. Whether you’re after the bright clarity of a pour-over or the full-bodied richness of a French press, the Yanesha microlot will suit your taste.
Why Microlots Matter
Microlots represent the pinnacle of coffee farming, showcasing the best that a farm, region, or cooperative has to offer. These small, carefully managed batches highlight the unique terroir, varietals, and processing methods of their origin, delivering flavor profiles that can’t be replicated on a larger scale.
In the case of this Yanesha microlot, its honey processing method accentuates the natural sugars in the coffee cherries, resulting in a sweet, smooth cup with incredible depth. Each microlot tells a story—of the land, the farmers, and their meticulous attention to detail.
Sourcing microlots is a deliberate choice. It ensures that we’re not just bringing you high-quality coffee but also supporting the craft and sustainability of smallholder farmers. These coffees reflect the culmination of years of knowledge, dedication, and a commitment to excellence from the farmers who produce them.
